Madelyn’s Story

Site created on August 18, 2021

Please read!!
Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. Madelyn was diagnosed with breast cancer on June 24, 2021 at the age of 27. We appreciate your support, prayers, words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Please note: If you are making a ‘tribute’ donation in honor of Madelyn, the info presented is slightly misleading. A tribute goes directly to the Caringbridge website, which is a non profit company. The misleading part is $30 a month is not required to keep her site going, the site is completely free to use, and was created only as a way to more easily update family and friends on her treatment progress and condition.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Madelyn Schegetz

Here goes nothing 🤞🏼🤞🏼 2/22/22- starting my 2x a day CDK4/6 inhibitor in addition to the ovarian suppression and aromatase inhibitor I’m already taking for hormone therapy/prevention.
I’m very nervous, but ultimately agreed with my doctor that the benefit for me outweighs the risks and potential side effects. They prescribed the same nausea medicine I used during chemo and anti-diarrheal to help with side effects. I’ll do labs at the 2 week and 4 week mark to monitor blood cell counts and check for liver problems. Onto this new chapter for ~2 years... #nevergiveup #onedayatatime #youngcancersurvivors #breastcancerunder30
