A brief history...
Maddie woke up early Thursday morning with severe pain down her right leg. Caleb and Maddie went to the emergency room at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, MO. 


It was quickly discovered that Maddie was suffering from a very large blood clot; extending from her pelvis to the end of her right leg. The doctors have used phrases like "unusual" and "impressive" and "extensive" to describe the clot.


Maddie has named the clot Gurdy.
