Journal

Well, it’s been a long time since we’ve posted about Mackenzie’s Cancer journey. It has been a bit over 1 1/2 years since she was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma. Hard to believe it has been just over a year since she stopped chemotherapy. The doctors said it can take about a year for chemo to get ‘out of your body & head’ and I sure can believe it. There were so many days where it was very challenging for us to understand, but cancer fatigue and the head games it plays on everyone is REAL! This journey has been a tough one for our family, but especially for Mackenzie. Many, many emotions along the way have impacted all of our lives. For those of you who have supported Mackenzie and our family in one way or another, we are so very grateful. Meals, gift cards, gifts, messages, visits, hugs, cards, money and of course your time to just stop what you are doing and to listen. The gift of your time and your patience with all of us (especially me) through all of this means the most to us.

Kenzie is still getting scans every 3 months and with God’s grace and your prayers the next set of scans will bring us good news. She is starting to venture out more…she’s involved with Livestrong in LaCrosse thanks to her sister’s encouragement and is starting to work Part time learning how to be a tech in the pharmacy at the Krohn Clinic. A huge thank you goes out to Lori Janke and Barb Hagenbrock and the crew for believing in my daughter and giving her a shot at re-entering the workforce again and to learn how to balance work and the fatigue cancer has given her. Please say hi to her at the pharmacy, she’s super excited to learn and to get out more in the public. We are so blessed to have you in our lives and thank you for your prayers
