Sepsis has a 30% survival rate. I’ve survived it twice.

I am immensely grateful for all of the prayers, visits, and love that everyone has showered me in these past two weeks. By the grace of God, I was sent home yesterday to continue healing on oral antibiotics. I’ve spent much of my time at home sleeping and cuddling my cat. I have a long road ahead of me to get back to where I was, but I am so thankful to finally have negative blood cultures.

I was sent home without a central line and am working on getting a new port placed as soon as humanly possible. Without a central line, I cannot have TPN, daily hydration, IV medication, and there’s a more complicated approach to receiving IVIG. I am concerned with how my body will react to this change. I’ve had central line access for three years now and my body thrives with it - even if the lines did cause sepsis twice.

Along with port surgery, I will be focusing on reschedule the many other procedures and tests that I missed due to sepsis. If there’s one thing I can count on, it’s being busier than my energy to manage.

Again, thank you to everyone who reached out while I was septic. I apologize for any late responses (or lack of responses) that have occurred or will occur while healing. Sepsis brain has taken over and it is difficult to string along sentences.

Glory to God for survival! Now to lean further into Him as I seek baseline once more.
