Lynda’s Story

Site created on October 11, 2021

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.

After experiencing some unexplained symptoms, Lynda was hospitalized on Monday, October 4.  She was told she had Anemia and after several more tests, she was diagnosed on October 8 with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML).  As you can imagine, this came as quite a shock to her and her family.  Chemo was started right away and appears to already be making a positive impact.

Prayers are greatly appreciated!!  Flowers or plants are not currently an option.

We will keep everyone updated here with her progress. She was inpatient at Methodist Medical Center for a couple of months last year.

After several rounds of chemo, a bone marrow transplant was recommended - so the search for a donor resulted in an anonymous 100% match. She made the decision to switch to M.D. Anderson after getting a 2nd opinion. The bone marrow transplant took place July 25, 2022 and now we are just waiting for it to take over and start producing blood.

I know it’s been a long time!  Just an update:

Lynda continues to do very well!  She’s still working - Jerry is now fully retired!

The donor has agreed to share his contact info, though no contact has yet been made.  Apparently, he lives in Georgia!!

So not much else to report.  She will have follow up visits at MDA in February!!  Keep her in your prayers for continued blessings.  ❤️
