Lyla's update:

The long awaited day has finally arrived.  Lyla's baptism!!!  Over the past month, it's gone something like this:

Lyla: "How many days until my baptism now??"
Me: "Oh... geez, uh... 29 days I think?"

Then just put this same conversation on repeat every day until today.  She's that excited that she is getting a chance to stake HER claim in all of this.  That through seizures big and small, through countless needle pokes, six video EEGs, a handful of long-term hospital stays, I don't know how many MRIs, PET scan, MEG scan, you name it - through it all, she's publicly declaring that she chooses Jesus.  Or in her words... "God, Jesus, and Holy Spirit" 😀

Today, she publicly claims victory over fear, anxiety, and all the unknown in her circumstance.

Relevant Scripture:
Psalms 118:14-18
"The Lord gives me strength and makes me sing. He has saved me. Shouts of joy and victory come from the tents of those who do right: “The Lord has done powerful things.” The power of the Lord has won the victory. With his power the Lord has done mighty things. I will not die, but live. And I will tell what the Lord has done. The Lord has taught me a hard lesson. But he did not let me die."

Song on repeat:
Raise a Hallelujah - Bethel Music
"I'm gonna sing in the middle of the storm
...Up from the ashes, hope will arise
Death is defeated, the King is alive

...I raise a hallelujah in the middle of the mystery
I raise a hallelujah fear you've lost your hold on me"

Prayer:
Today, it's so appropriate for me to address You as God, Jesus, and Holy Spirit (or GJHS for short! 😂).  Thank you for making Lyla who she is - so loving, so encouraging, and so deeply in love with You that it consumes nearly every conversation of hers.  GJHS, we even thank you for these really tough situations over the past year.  What joy we have has been hard fought and earned through loads of prayer and complete dependence on You. GJHS, we pray that whatever impact on others that You desire can be seen and heard through our humility and sincerity - even when that at times will come at our expense.  I love You.
Amen
