BIG update: :)
It’s been a couple of weeks, and for that, I apologize! I keep meaning to update…and then I forget! Lol
My healing process is slow. It’s very frustrating for me because I’m accustomed to bouncing back fairly quickly!
Everything has gone to plan. I’ve had a follow up with my surgeon and will have another this week. She says everything looks good!
I have just one more surgery to go! I am on the schedule for August 1st, in Charleston. This is the last phase of my reconstruction.
It is just an overnight stay in the hospital. This will not be a major surgery just one to put the finishing touches on my reconstruction and right-size everything.
I ask that everyone please be in prayer for me. I have a decision to make. I have six more months of immunotherapy (Keytruda) to go, according to my original plan. My oncologist gave me the choice of whether or not to complete the process. There is not enough data for him to encourage me either way. I will be getting a second opinion for my specific situation to see if I can gather more data and make a more informed decision.
Please be in prayer that God will guide me in the right direction! If any of you have been through or know anyone who has been through immunotherapy, please feel free to reach out and tell me your stories!
For the first six months, they gave me the meds with my chemo, so I really don’t know the specific side effects of the immunotherapy. I do worry, because with no cancer in my body for my immune system to fight, it will just be fighting my healthy cells and organs. I hate to put my body through something more, but I also hate to abandon this process if it’s the right way to go. I’m just very conflicted. I really appreciate all of your support and your prayers and I know that I will be through this soon enough! ❤️
