Luna’s Story

Site created on January 28, 2023

Luna was diagnosed in September of 2022 with grade 4 DMG brain tumor at only 3 years old. Luna turned 4 this past December and has seen the walls of a hospital more than most adults. She has had two brain surgeries and underwent 27 rounds of radiation 5 days a week for 6 weeks. She lost a majority of her hair during radiation, but she refused to cut her “Rapunzel” and we decided to respect her wishes. Lunas ability to walk has been stripped away by this cancer. The left side of her body has become too weak including her arm, leg, and face. This type of brain cancer is very aggressive but Luna continues to fight so bravely and fiercely. #LunaZoeStrong you can follow the beginning of her story on IG, TikTok @coralfully

Journal entry by Coral Ledezma

Luna had her post discharge appointment yesterday and it went well. She will restart her chemo today. The dr said we could wait until April, but I told her it’s been almost 4 months since radiations was complete that I don’t want to give cancer any room for growth. We were forced to wait and lose so much precious time at the beginning of her diagnosis with the old team I cannot risk waiting anymore. Luna has been going to OT, PT and speech. Her strength in her left arm has improved. She is more aware of it and doesn’t avoid using it. We are hopeful with continued therapy and work at home she’ll get the strength back. She has also been doing assisted walking, she can do it very long but it’s something.
