Hailey’s Story

Site created on March 25, 2019

Thursday morning (March, 21) our daughter, Hailey, was brought into the Tempe, Arizona ER after being found unresponsive. She was stabilized and admitted to the ICU where she remains stable but unresponsive. Renee and I are with her and trying to pull the pieces together as to what happened, so we don’t know all of the medical details. What we do know is Hailey is very critical and we are asking for thoughts and prayers to pull her through this.

We are spending every second with Hailey so we are not able to relay a lot of information but will update as things develop.

As those that know Hailey, she is a HUGE Harry Potter fan and her first tattoo was inspired by the spell “Lumos Maxima” which is latin for Great Light. Hailey always thought of family and friends as a great light in her life. Just as she is a great light in ours.

The only thing we need right now are prayers, so please keep Hailey in prayers.

Love,
Hailey, Rick, & Renee

Sept 29, 2019

Today marks Haliey's 6-month wingaversay.  It was on this day, March 29, 2019 that Hailey entered into God's kingdom. It seems like just yesterday when received the news and at the same time feels like an excruciatingly long time since we were able to talk with and hug our baby girl.

On behalf of Hailey’s family, we would like to thank everyone who supported us with thoughtful words, prayers, hugs, food, donations to Hailey’s memorial, and the countless other ways you were able to support us during this time. We can never express enough how we truly felt loved and supported.

The generosity shown by so many allowed us to donate to the following organizations in which Hailey felt passionate about and will allow these organizations to continue their missions and let Hailey’s light shine on.

Campus Life - Lincoln

Lincoln East High School Track program

Wyuka Cemetery memorial Tree

Donor Network of Arizona

Live on Nebraska

Chaos Softball Organization

St Elizabeth Hospital - NICU

Through Hailey’s organ donation she was truly able to pass on the gift of life to many individuals who are now able to experience life.

As part of the organ donation process Hailey was able to participate in a medical study that if/when approved will help countless women who need to have mastectomies. Hailey was the first person in the world to have this medical procedure performed which provided the needed knowledge and information to carry this study forward. Having been the 1st to have the procedure was truly in Hailey’s style of “go big or go home” attitude.

An initiative that has come up as a result of Hailey’s donation and participation in that study has been a movement to marry the organ donation process with medical studies, which in the past has not been very common. Once again Hailey has been one of the 1st in this area and has been tagged as a “Knowledge Donor” by the physicians and caregivers associated with this process.

In closing, we would like to express again our heartfelt appreciation to all of you who so generously reached out in our support. Our ask is for continued prayers for Hailey as she continues here walk with God and watches over all of us, Love one another and don’t let hate into your hearts, reach out and hug your family and friends often, consider being an organ donor, and always help others when you can.

Love you all,

Hailey, Renee, and Rick
