Here is a reminder of how sudden and drastic Dick and Lulu's decline was. My company (HP Germany) planted trees for all employees, and we were offered the chance to dedicate the plantings to loved ones. At the time it was just meant as a nice gesture, and I dedicated one of the plantings to them. Without realizing it at the time, this little gift suddenly turned into a living legacy for them after they passed on. This all happened, believe it or not, in early July. Sure, they were struggling at the time with difficult treatments and decisions, but nothing was certain yet. Later that same month, they were both gone. Sad sad.
