Journal entry by Laura & Chris Raiford —
Luke started Maintenance Cycle #2 yesterday. After being released last week on some strong antibiotics, his infections have cleared up, and his blood counts are excellent!
Maintenance Cycle #2 will last 90 days and entail daily chemo pills plus a different weekly chemo pill, and it starts with a 'pulse' of steroids this week. During Maintenance Cycle #1, he experienced rapid growth requiring an increased dose for many of his medicines. Right now, he is high energy, funny, smiling, and dancing - AND LOVING SCHOOL!
We hope to begin creating some fun memories, starting with a beach trip with Lifehouse Family Retreat in April. The boys can't wait to start swimming in the new pool (our move is final) and return to the mountains as soon as possible (hopefully for the white squirrel festival).
We are still taking it one day at a time since we know Luke's health can turn on a dime, but we are enjoying these good days!
