Journal entry by Mario Frucci —
Hello Everyone!
Today is September 1st and wouldn't you know it, the last month (or more) has just absolutely flown by. In the last month Luke has done some remarkably fast healing. He had an appointment today in which his x-rays show outstanding progress, so much so, that the doctor encouraged him to do a push-up in the middle of the doctors office. In Luke's words, "if I was going to try to do a push up anywhere, what better place than a hospital." The doctors have given him the full go ahead to do just about anything he wants with that broken right arm - yes, even golf! We all know Luke well enough to know that was the first question he asked. The x-rays on Luke's foot show that it is doing great and he's been wearing normal shoes for about 4 weeks now (he's already got a new pair of Vans). Still no plan for his facial fractures, but the maxillofacial surgeon appointment to get his fake teeth installed is still a ways down the road as the bone graft that was placed still needs time to heal. All in all, Luke's physical recovery has been absolutely remarkable. Thank you all for continued prayers and well wishes. It has undoubtedly been welcomed and appreciated.
He has moved back to Colorado Springs after spending the summer in Erie, CO with Chris and Brian during the bulk of his physical recovery. They were able to move him back about a week before classes started so he could get settled. He is taking a pretty heavy workload of classes at University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (UCCS) and he's been really looking forward to the start of school and getting into a routine.
We want to thank you all again, and again and again and again, for everything. We can't put into words what it has meant to know we have so many people sending love, thoughts, and prayers. You are all amazing and we are forever grateful!
With Love,
-The Frucci Family
