Luke’s Story

Site created on June 14, 2021

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.

In brief, my story is this: I was diagnosed with colon cancer in May 2018 after a colonoscopy. Despite some initial hope that it had not spread outside the colon, biopsy of the removed mass uncovered microscopic cancer cells in the lymphic vascular system outside the colon walls (making my initial diagnosis post-surgery Stage III). I was put on adjuvant chemotherapy for six months (ended one cycle early) followed by chemo radiation for a couple weeks focused on the surgical area. Despite these steps, over the last two years I have progressed to Stage IV colon cancer with cancer in multiple areas of my body. We are currently considering available clinical trials for further treatment.

Thank you for vising this site and for caring for us.

Journal entry by Kristina Martin

I have a heavy heart as I tell you all that Luke has gone home to be with the Lord. Thank y’all for all of the prayers! He had a few great days at the end of last week and then he slept until yesterday morning around 10:30. We miss him so much already but are so thankful that he is with our Lord Jesus and healed at last.
