Journal

Good morning-
It has been a very long time since I posted an update. A month! A very busy month. So much good progress for all of the boys.

It was determined after seeing the orthopedic doctor that Lucas’s pain stemmed from a very deep muscle strain where several muscles come together in the pelvis and attach to a small process on a part of the iliac crest. His recovery was about three weeks. Again, God put him with a physical therapist that had experienced the same injury at one point and knew just what to do to bring healing and relief. June 19th he was back to walking. He is incredibly diligent with all of his stretches and exercises at home and has certainly learned the art or discipline of NOT overdoing it. Our next steps are a driving rehabilitation and a vocational rehabilitation. Unfortunately he is experiencing nightmares and flashbacks while awake of the initial impact of the semi truck. This is his only memory of the accident and quite frankly I wish he had none. We will be working with a PTSD therapist to try to help w it.

Evander is now walking with just one arm around someone. Talking, eating and swallowing are all improving as well. God is so good!

Hayden is doing well physically, but the emotional healing is not so easy. Not for any of them nor Nitika’s family. Her 17th birthday was yesterday and the boys spent the day with friends and her family doing many things to celebrate and remember her. If prayers were to be concentrated anywhere, it would be on the emotional healing for all who have been touched by this accident, let us not forget the semi driver either, Kim Whipple.

Christian, the boys’ friend who broke his leg in a side by side accident is up and walking with out a cast, boot or crutches. The skill of the medical team at Parkview, the advantage of these young healthy bodies, the FAITHFULNESS of your prayers and the GRACE and MERCY of our GOD is profound. It is a testimony that should be told everywhere!

Thank you for all of your love, support and prayers. This will be my last post here on CaringBridge. I will put out periodic updates on my Facebook and please feel free to message me on fb messenger for an update anytime.

May God bless and keep you all!
Rebecca Rupp
