Amazing News.🙏🏻
As I sat at the the end of my rope yesterday, exhausted and not even realizing how much anxiety I had awaiting the results of Lucas’s tumor removal regarding margins and necrosis, I hit a wall of exhaustion. Actually, pretty sure I slammed into the wall, and it was not the least bit graceful.
After the surgery, Dr Reimer explained that we are hoping to get 95% necrosis or above on the report. This would mean that Lucas is a “responder” to the chemo treatments. No pressure, right?😉
As with everything else, we just had to wait. it’s hard to believe it’s almost been 2 weeks. A good friend told me that cancer is a game of waiting and boy oh boy, that is the truth!
My phone rang. It was 8:30 pm on a Friday night and it was Dr. Reimer, his surgeon, with the results. This was the last phone call we were expecting.
He explained that the margins are negative, meaning all of the cancer is gone. He then said he was going to tell me something he doesn’t get to say very often.
The necrosis report showed that Lucas’s tumor was 100% dead. Not 98 or 99, 100% dead. His tumor was 9 inches, not cm, INCHES.
This is the very BEST case scenario for Lucas. It means that the chemo is doing it’s job and Lucas’s body is very responsive.
Of course, it’s only a number and anything can happen, but we will take the good stuff and celebrate the heck out of it, y’all!
We have been covered in prayer and love and this is a miracle. A MIRACLE!!Thank you God!!!!
To think that 3 months ago, on a Thursday we were prepared to expect a phone call to take him in for an amputation on Friday, the next morning and he is sleeping in his bed today with a cancer free leg that was a gift from a donor and their family is nothing short of miraculous.
Lucas will still be going through the aggressive chemo treatments for months to come, but this is a HUGE hurdle that God has gotten us through. Your love and prayers have worked.❤️
I saw this quote this morning and thought it was appropriate.
“This is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. It is, perhaps, the end of the beginning." -Winston Churchill
We love you all so much and are so very grateful for your prayers and continued prayers on this journey. God is good. All the time.❤️
