Journal entry by April Dodier

Today was new stem cell day!!! In the transplant community this is called his "rebirthday" and will be celebrated every year. The nurses sang happy birthday, brought a whole cake just for him, and even got him a small present! The transplant actually takes place as an infusion of his new stem cells, similar to a blood transfusion.

Otherwise, we've had a pretty chill few days with some outings around the ward and even some school! I'm told the hard part, where he really feels the effects of the chemo and starts to feel crummy, starts in about a week. Until then, I'm hoping we can keep enjoying some silly fun together!
