Journal entry by LIZ CANNING —
I am so very sorry to have to tell you all that Sackett died early this morning. He'd been sleeping for several days, without eating or communicating. Mom was there, by his side the whole time or sleeping in the next room. Because this infection can be painful he was given morphine as hospice saw fit. She says he was in the best of hands and it was as peaceful as could be.
I flew from CA to MA with Adam and our kids yesterday and we are on our way to meet mom in Nonquitt now. She is holding up well and has an appointment at a funeral home today. My daughter Stormy and I will be with her for the next several weeks. We will let you all know the plan for a memorial as soon as that is in place.
Personally I will be forever grateful that Sackett came into our lives. He was such a generous, affectionate, hilarious and loyal man, and my favorite dance partner of all time (except for my husband). I am especially grateful that my twins got to have him as their Pop-pop--what a wonderful, fun-loving grandpa he was.
Thanks to all who've shared their loving thoughts on the site. More soon.
A $25 donation to CaringBridge powers a site like Sackett's for two weeks. Will you make a gift to help ensure that this site stays online for them and for you?
