Journal

It’s been a bit since I’ve updated on here. It’s a mix of recovering from Mikah’s very difficult year to being able to live life a little more free once again. Mikah went through a period of time, that I praying with everything in me, he never has to experience again. He suffered so much this last year that it’s almost as if we have been holding our breath.

After radiation and chemo in November he completely lost all of his strength. He could barely walk. Since then however, he has made an incredible comeback! He is back to playing baseball and even did a few pull ups this week! We enrolled Mikah and Markus in a homeschool baseball program at PFA in Montclair and it has been an absolute blessing. Although he thinks he is just training and playing baseball, I see it as healing for his body. A form of physical therapy that he enjoys. The owner of PFA who coaches many MLB and college players is also giving Mikah private pitching lessons. I am almost in tears every time I see them together and Dave sharing his knowledge with Mikah. When the baseball season started this year he couldn’t do a lunge or a frog jump and barely swing a bat. I don’t think anyone expected too much out of him this season and yet now he is playing 2nd base or pitching and has been at the top of the batting order line up the last few games. He’s taken the spot very seriously and had some amazing hits! He is looking forward to much more baseball and we look forward to cheering him on for years to come!

Last month Mikah’s Make A Wish trip to Hawaii came true. It was the most incredible thing we have experienced, maybe ever. Hawaii is a place I never knew I could love so much. The air and ocean and time away to enjoy our family again was a gift we didn’t know we needed so desperately. On our first night in Hawaii we were able to tell Mikah that he is not done with treatment in September of 2025 but in October of 2024!! Only a little over five months left of treatment. We don’t know why they told us the wrong date to begin with but now it feels like we have been given a gift. Another year and half of chemo and treatment just seems so daunting but knowing he will be done in the fall has brought us so much joy and excitement.

Please be praying for these next few rounds of IV chemo and Spinal chemo Mikah will be getting in the next few months.

Please please pray that this is it. That Mikah never has to live another cancer battle again.

Please pray that our family can heal from the last 6 years.

Please pray that Mikah continues to heal and that there are no other side affects or long term damage to his body.

Please pray that he continues to grow in his learning and education. There are some gaps to fill. He’s so smart and so creative but missing out on school and having a dyslexic diagnosis is rough on top of everything else.

Please pray that God will continue to use this journey and Mikah’s story to help others and to bring Glory to His name. It’s so easy to be on your knees when things are hard and we don’t want to lose that sensitive heart we have to listen to what he is teaching us. To praise God in the fire is a pretty incredible place to be because you know He is right there beside you. I would rather be in the fire and close to him than to have an easy life and not feel his presence.

Thank you for your continued prayers and for those of you who reach out and check in with us. We are so beyond blessed by the people who have come along side us in this battle. It’s not over yet but we are beginning to see the sun shining a lot brighter than we have in a long time.

❤️
