Daniel’s Story

Site created on August 11, 2022

My husband Daniel had a tragic fall July 3rd 2022.   Within that he suffered a neck break that has left him paralyzed and considered a quad at this point.   We are in the midst of the journey but faithful this is just the beginning and the outcome will be so much more.

We have several things going on.
We are battling what the doctor thinks could be a chronic bone infection from the original wound he got from Midtown Hospital.  It's causing a lot of stressors.
We are back to 2 hour repositioning which means every two hours I place him on his other side to offset pressure.   It's absolutely exhausting.

We are also struggling with his nutrition.  He's having trouble with his throat muscles and the strength to chew.  I've pushed for a speech evaluation to see if we can get speech therapy back in for him.  As well as I've been pushing for at least partial tube feeds.  I just feel it's best until we can get him eating better.  Ive called and left messages for our primary voicing my concerns have yet to get a call back.  But our case manager in Henderson did listen to me and is shipping me a couple bags of tube feed I can push into his peg and will get that next week.  I spoke to the Doctor yesterday expressing my concerns as well and he's sent a referral to a nutritionist that hopefully can help some more as well.

The nutrition really concerns me. It affects literally everything from strength for therapy to wound healing.

Going to keep really pushing for things to happen.
