Louise’s Story

Site created on February 7, 2022

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support. Thank you for visiting.

After Louise's initial diagnosis of breast cancer in 2004, she and Steve relocated to Las Vegas where she underwent surgery, multiple rounds of chemotherapy and radiation. She managed to beat the odds and had no active cancer for almost 11 years!  During this time among other things, she was an active volunteer and supporter of the American Cancer Society in Las Vegas.

Unfortunately, after 11 years, it was discovered that her sciatic back pain was actually the return of her cancer, it had spread to her bones. For the past several years Louise has managed her battle with metastatic breast cancer while running a business with Steve, giving back to the community, feeding and entertaining friends and family from near and far, and becoming a doting Bubby to her 3 grand babies.   In November, 2021 it was discovered that the cancer had additionally spread to her liver and after some attempts to  combat it, the cancer has continued to spread.  She was admitted to hospice on February 7, 2022.

It is in this space that we hope to share her final journey, tell stories, communicate and send prayers.

Journal entry by Steven Gleicher

Dear Friends and Family,

Thank you all for reaching out and supporting me and my family.  I appreciate all your cards, calls, texts, emails, and invitations for meals and places to visit.  I am doing  as well as could be expected.  A grief counselor has visited with me a couple times, and I am considering attending a grief group.   It will take time and is hard at times, but I have come to grips with what occurred and will begin entering the next chapter of my life.

In case some of you missed the Las Vegas memorial below is a link to it.  The Temple Sinai memorial service is not on-line anywhere so I set up a Google Drive.  It should work without you having to sign in to anything.  It begins at about 6 minutes in and as discussed earlier cuts off before it is actually over.  It misses about 15 minutes.

The link below is the Chicago memorial service.  It will drop off of the Shalom website in a couple weeks, so I added it here for future viewing.
