Louie’s Story

Site created on August 23, 2020

11pm on Saturday night I found Louie on the floor in our bedroom. At that time i thought he had just fallen. He quickly lost consciousness and stopped breathing. My neighbor and i started CPR an officer and the ambulance arrived and were able to shock him and get a heart beat. From there we have no idea what happened or is happening. He is currently in the ICU at Avera. He is not breathing on his own or responding to our voices. Doctor's have advised the best treatment right now is to put him in a hypothermia situation to lower the chances of any further damage to his body/brain. They will then slowly rule out things. Right now we need all the prayers we can get.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Betsy Alick Odden

Hi everyone, sorry I have not updated anyone lately but there is not much more to tell.
Louie is doing very well considering everything he has been through. We are just trying to process everything and the changes we need to make in our lives.
He is pretty sore from the surgery and CPR but getting better everyday. He is finally able to sleep more than a couple hours at a time and in the actual bed.
All in all it is a lot to take in where we were a week ago compared to today.
We don't know how to thank each of you for all your kind words and prayers.
Louie is overwhelmed by the amount of prayers he had received.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
