Louie’s Story

Site created on December 19, 2019

Louie has experienced several months of abdominal pain and GI issues, but neither endoscopy, nor colonoscopy showed signs of malignant growths. After symptoms persisted, a laparoscopic investigation on 12/19/19 showed otherwise. The surgery unfortunately exposed cancerous activity throughout the peritoneal cavity, which could not be seen from previous exploration.

After discharge, there were mild complications with the laparoscopic surgery, resulting in dehydration, weakness and swelling. These led to an ER visit on 12/20, and admission back to the hospital on 12/21, where she remained on and off until January 2.

The cancer is believed to have originated in the peritoneum or appendix (or both). She is now undergoing chemotherapy for her cancer.

Louie is surrounded by the love of her family and friends, and we all thank you for your thoughts and prayers.

Journal entry by Louie Carter

Friends of Louie,

It is with both sadness and joy that we report that Louie passed from her earthly home on Wednesday, October 21.  Sad for us because we will miss her so.  Happy for her because  she is no longer constricted by her disease, and is finally pain, nausea and worry free.  A funeral will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church on St. Andrews Road, Columbia, SC at 2:00 on Sunday, Oct. 25.  A link to her obituary is below.
