Lou Ann Loew, 59 of Grimes, Iowa passed away on Friday March 15th, 2019 in the comfort of her home.  She spent the final days of this life surrounded by the love of family and friends following a courageous battle against ovarian cancer.

She was born on January 18th, 1960 in Carroll, Iowa to Delmar and Betty (Bosche) Clipperton.  She was the oldest of five siblings who she loved whole heartedly.  She was a 1978 graduate of Manning High School where she participated in band and cheerleading.

Lou Ann was united in marriage to Richard Loew on December 28th, 1985.  Richard and Lou Ann made their home in Carroll, Iowa where they raised their two daughters, Beth and Danielle.  Lou Ann was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.  It was evident to those around her that her girls and grandbabies were the light of her life.

After raising her daughters, Lou Ann went on to pursue a dream of her own.  She became a Registered Nurse and made a career in Long Term Care as a Director of Nursing.  She had a genuine love of and adoration for the aging population.  She could frequently be heard saying “I love what I do.” Her positivity in the workplace was infectious and leadership admirable.  She was nominated by her peers in both 2017 and 2018 for the Excellence in LTSS Leadership Award.

Lou Ann was diagnosed with Stage 4 ovarian cancer in April 2018.  She battled through grueling chemotherapy, major surgery and a string of hospitalizations all while working full time and making every effort to care for others and remain present in the lives of her husband, children and grandchildren.  She was the epitome of strength, grace and dignity and her work ethic was unrivaled.

Left to carry on her legacy are her husband Richard Loew, daughters Beth Burke (Lance) and Danielle Markway (Luke), grandchildren Payton, Reese, Brody, Harper and Miles, great grandchildren Jace and Addelyn, mother Betty Clipperton, siblings Becky Loew (Jeff), Teresa Wickland, Dan Clipperton (Lisa) and Brenda Harrison, a plethora of in-laws, nieces, nephews and a host of friends and beloved co-workers.

She was preceded in death by her father Delmar Clipperton.

The family would like to thank the entire team at Suncrest Hospice for their care and compassion.

There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, March 30th from 2 to 6 pm at Jester Park Lodge located at 11407 NW Jester Park Dr in Granger, Iowa.  Lou Ann requested a party, so a party is what she will get!  We hope to see you there.
