Journal entry by Mark Witteveen —
Mom had her burial service at Fort Custer today. The cemetery was quiet with the exception of a single consistent bell toll as we drove to the service area.
Some of the blessings during this whole process is the experience of a brother who walked with me to discuss faith, family, and a multitude of other subjects as we strolled through our old neighborhood. My sister in law who was a consistent and steady in so many areas of planning and prep. My wife who stepped up and honored my parents in so many ways as we celebrated our last Christmas with mom, planned mom’s care and funeral. She was a rock!
I wouldn’t have wanted to experience this loss in any other way. I have a family who cares for each other, is patient, and just loves through actions.
