Lori’s Story

Site created on February 2, 2019

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

On Tuesday, January 29th, 2019, Lori was admitted to Methodist Hospital.  Her chest x-ray looked like a rare or unique double pneumonia.  On Thursday, January 31st, Lori's oxygen levels continued to decline despite treatment.  She was admitted to the ICU and doctors performed a bronchoscopy along with a lung biopsy and gathered samples from a bronchial wash.  All test are coming back negative and doctors are unsure of the cause of this.

Lori has continued to battle with maintaining her oxygen levels despite support.  At 2:00am on Friday, February 1st,  Lori was sedated and put on a ventilator.  The ventilator is on maximum support.  The medical team has now put her into a state of paralysis in order to give her the most restful time during her healing.  We love her very much and know that there are so many others who love her just the same.

We are asking for prayers to help her stay strong and fight whatever it is that is keeping oxygen from her lungs.  Thank you for your support.

Journal entry by Ryan Bisson

Cherished family and friends,
This is Lori. I would do anything to try and gift back to each one of you just one small second of the love, calm, comfort, prescence, peace and overall sense of well-being that I have experienced over the last 3+ weeks through your prayers, encouragement, kind words and blessings – and not just for me but for my husband and children and their families – you lifted us all up so beautifully and lovingly.
I'm not sure if I can make you understand how real these things were but believe me when I say I absolutely FELT “protected”. I absolutely FELT “that I was loved” coming at me from every direction and everyone I had contact with awake or not. I absolutely FELT God's angels and strength and never once felt unnerved or felt the need to question what, why or how things were happening. And I know that was all thanks to God hearing and answering your prayers and for that I will be forever beyond grateful and blessed.
I have heard through my family and through Caring Bridge the most precious notes, cheers, and stories from people I am so very close to, to people I knew once upon a time, to people I have never met. And I want you to know there is not one more important to me than the other because you each took time out of your day and your lives to offer up a prayer, a good wish, food, anything and everything – it is all something big to us.
I am so happy to be home...they had me in the lobby autographing 8x10 glossies whenever there was any down time which is pretty exhausting. Until all of my strength, balance and energy comes back I won't be driving and I am using a walker when I'm extra tired or we need to leave the house. I don't need any outpatient physical therapy and other than weaning me off of most of the meds I took in the hospital the only thing else on our to do list is “breathe...”
Thank you and I love you! Lori
