Lori’s Story

Site created on November 24, 2022

As some of you may know on Tuesday, November 15th Lori was admitted to the hospital in Wyoming, MN. This was due to confusion from a seizure. While she was in the ER they preformed an MRI, CAT scan and a spinal tap for clues on why this was going on. During these tests they found a mass on her kidney and something abnormal with the brain. After being transferred to St. Mary’s Hospital, we found out that she had two separate cancers; kidney cancer and brain cancer. They are completely unrelated. They believe that the kidney cancer is not aggressive. The malignant brain tumor however is. They do not recommend surgery since it is in a very important part of her brain and do not want to mess with her speech and memory. She is currently doing radiation at Mayo Clinic in Rochester along with taking a chemo pill as well. We are hoping for some good results from these treatments. We greatly appreciate all of the love, support, and prayers!!!!

Journal entry by Kayla Jensen

Hi everyone!
So my mom went back down to Mayo to get an MRI to see how the radiation and chemo affected her tumor. The MRI came back good, it was slightly smaller!! It may not seem huge but with this kind of brain cancer it is rare, they usually expect it to be bigger or the same.  So now Lori is back on chemo M-F every three weeks. Thank you all for the prayers, all we ask if you continue to pray for my mom! God is with her, and he is listening to our prayers! Love always,
Kayla
