Lori’s Story

Site created on July 6, 2019

Fifteen years ago, Lori beat stage III breast cancer through surgery, radiation, & chemotherapy.  This June, Lori found a small lump in her chest and neck and has been diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer.  Lori will be undergoing 12 weeks of weekly chemotherapy starting  Friday 7/26.  If all goes well, she will begin weekly fusions of Herceptin following the chemotherapy.

Time for a check in!  Lori met with her oncologist today.  The doctor continues to monitor her blood and the tumor markers are holding steady which is good news.  Lori has to continue her infusions which means a 2-3 hour session every three weeks.  This will go on indefinitely as long as her body will take it.    She has  been very tired lately with little energy.  If it keeps up the doctor will order an iron work up to see what is going on.  Her latest echo cardiogram also had a good reading.  Her heart will continue to be monitored as the infusion drugs are taxing on it.
As they ended the appointment today the doctor said to Lori, "just live".
And that is just what she plans to do.  First stop, a visit to the granddaughters this weekend! 😊
