Journal

Victoria was great! Anna and I had lunch Saturday with one of my friends from college, her 30-year-old son, and his partner. We talked for a couple of hours, and enjoyed getting reacquainted. Sunday we went to Butchart and wandered around town. Monday we went to the Royal BC Museum (and  I acquired three small pieces of modern art at the gift shop). Later, before we returned to the Clipper,  we enjoyed tea at the Empress.

Now I'm back  in Seattle.  And depressed. I'm compensating for all the crying I never did in my earlier life. Life in between events is hard. My younger sister asked me what I wanted to do last night, and I said I needed a distraction from myself. So we watched "Fargo." We finished the second storyline that was  full of violence, stupid criminals (the kind you moan over with every bad decision they make), and a core story of some really decent human beings. I forgot about my woes for a couple of hours.

One of my frustrations is this: I am doing well on the Tagrisso (although my GI tract in over-functioning). I'm staying active mentally and physically, but I do most of these activities alone.  My voice teacher is delightful, but I pay for her company. My piano teacher is shy and focused, and I pay for her company.

I am suspended between two lives. One that I want back, and another that is temporary. My sister and brother-in-law haven't issued an eviction order yet. But I can't reside in their bedroom forever and leave them in the basement.

At the most recent review of scans (4/25) with Dr. Menon, she brought along a social worker. Several months ago each of them had asked about my desire to return to Spokane. They laid out three major criteria to be met: 1) Someone to supervise my meds (making sure I'm organizing and taking them on schedule); 2) an overnight companion; and 3) someone to drive me to everything .

That is a tall order! Hear my lament, O God.

Psalm 44:

25 For we sink down to the dust;
    our bodies cling to the ground.
26 Rise up, come to our help.
    Redeem us for the sake of your steadfast love.
