Last Tuesday (7/13/2021) my daughter suffered a stroke in her spine (C2-C4) which rendered her paralyzed (quadriplegic) and unable to breath on her own, she’s been intubated. Doctors believe it was a genetic abnormality which created the blood clot. The stroke basically gave her a spinal injury. We’re being told that her condition will most likely be this way for the duration of her life. Doctors will be performing a tracheostomy and a feeding tube next week. She can move from her neck and up. Communication is hard. We almost lost our daughter last Tuesday night. As a father, my job is to protect my children from any danger. This particular danger had no warning signs. I feel so powerless. My heart is taking a huge hit. It’s been a long week, of taking care of three other boys, tattooing full time, driving to Children’s Hospital LA, and supporting my Lola and amazing wife who refuses to leave Lola’s side It’s so hard to leave the hospital after visiting the past week. This will be our life moving forward. A sacrifice we have to make and are without a doubt willing to endure. Our family is currently divided, that hurts. Just want this nightmare to end. Life will throw you curveballs and it is up to you to smash! Lola is strong. I will remain optimistic and I will do whatever it takes to make her and our family survive. I feel so bad for her dealing with this. 9 years old. I swear she must’ve received a billion kisses from me this week so far haha! I appreciate all the help and prayers we’ve received thus far and any support in the future
I will continue to tattoo although my hours will be limited (no more long sessions) and will continue to focus on quality of work. If you want to help, I will be posting about ways to support in a couple days. Until then it’s time to adapt and overcome, can do, and rise above!! Lola Havana Garcia
