Lois’s Story

Site created on October 4, 2022

In September, Lois went in for her routine mammogram and a mass was discovered in her right breast. After biopsy,  Lois was diagnosed with stage 2a lobular breast cancer with axillary lymph node involvement. This came as a shock to her as she has no family history of breast cancer and has been diligent about her breast health over the years. Unfortunately, cancer doesn’t always play favorites.
After several long appointments with an oncologist and surgeon, the plan to move forward with surgery was made. She is scheduled for a mastectomy and dissection of axillary lymph nodes on 10/4/22. Incidentally, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month.

Newest Update

Journal entry by johanna wihlm

Just a quick update to let everyone know that my mom is doing pretty well! In fact, she insisted on making pancakes for breakfast the other morning! It was great to see her feeling motivated to that, and she did a great job!
We have been keeping things in tip top shape to help her healing process. Her incision looks really good, despite a lot of bruising and a little swelling in the arm pit area. She is looking good!
This morning she got a beautiful bouquet delivered from family in CA! (Thank you!!) That sure put a bright spot on her morning!
She really appreciates all the cards, calls, visits, messages, and meals! 💕 Thank you for helping to lift her spirits!
