Journal entry by Jodi Jacobson

Good morning,
As I arrived at the Healthcenter early yesterday morning  (5/3) I found out my mom once again fell.  She hadn't even been at the Healthcenter for 24hrs.  My heart is broken.   She is very unstable physically.   She apparently thought she could get out of bed on her own.  This happened at 0630 in the am.  She did not get injured this time, I am greatful for that.  I had extensive meetings with nursing staff, OT/PT, and the Nurse Practitioner.  Mom is currently asst of 2 with ambuation.  It's hard for her to lose her independence, she is grieving this.  She may reach out to different family members or friends for favors or requests.  Please contact me before bringing things into her. Some of these requests are not in her best interest for safety.  For example she really wants her lift chair from home.  This would be dangerous for her and the nursing staff says she should not have this currently.   Last evening I received another call that my mom slid onto the floor with staff assistance off her chair closer to bedtime.  As you can see 2 falls in yesterday alone.  She continues to weaken.
