Logan Daniel’s Story

Site created on January 7, 2019

Logan Daniel Brown was born on May 14, 2016 to Keith and Sabrina Brown.  He has a big sister named Kennedy who is 4.   Logan was diagnosed with cancer on September 12, 2018.   A mass was found in his testicle.  He immediately went in for surgery on September 14, 2018 at the Masonic Childrens' Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  The entire testicle was removed successfully and his recovery was very quick.  After routine blood tests for the next few months, we were told on December 6, 2018 that he was officially in remission!!
However, three weeks later.... his next blood test came back and the cancer cells are multiplying again.  The type of cancer is called Germ Cell or Yolk Sac Cancer.   It is very rare.  There was a 10% chance after surgery that this could come back.   He now has to begin 6 rounds of Chemotherapy over the next 6 months.  Each round is every 3-4 weeks.  He will be in the hospital for a week after each round.   So we begin a new battle with this for our sweet little boy.

Journal entry by Sabrina Brown

Hi everyone!!   Its been a while since we have written a journal.  Logan is doing so well and his blood tests still continue to show that he is in remission!  We will be going on his Make-a-Wish Foundation trip to Wisconsin Dells from August 1-5th!  I am so excited to see the joy on his face and Kennedy's in this big adventure!
I also wanted to tell you all some devastating news I just received.  A neighbor of ours who lives just 3 blocks away found out on July 10th that their 2 year old daughter, Olivia Beekman, has 4th stage Neuroblastoma Cancer, which has spread to her bone marrow in her hips, femurs and spine.  Her parents, Grace and Darrin also have an 8 week old little boy.

We actually do not know them yet and found this out through another neighbor.  Precious Olivia has a very very long road ahead.  16 months of Chemotherapy and bone marrow transplants in addition.  She is at the same hospital Logan was.  The Masonic Children's Hospital in Minneapolis.
All of the love, generosity, prayers and support we received truly helped in our journey with Logan.  My heart hurts so much for the Beekman Family and I wanted to put their story on our Caring Bridge site to increase the prayers and support they need for their journey they have just begun.  Please pass this information on to friends and family if you would like.

****You can search for her Caring Bridge site under her name (Olivia Beekman) or specifically go to https//www.caringbridge.org/visit/oliviabeekman.****
