Hey friends! It’s been far too long since we’ve done any updates on Logan!
Over last summer, Logan had an updated EEG that looked good. There were a few blips of activity over the course of an hour that the neurologist usually sees every few seconds on other Syngap kids; so needless to say, Logan is doing great, and we are grateful that seizures are not part of his life (this can still change, but as of now, he doesn’t have them).
We also went to Ramona, CA last summer (in July) so that Logan and his service dog, Ragnar, could meet! That went so well! Cecilia, Ragnar’s trainer, said Ragnar already recognized Logan’s scent (from a shirt we sent in late spring). And while Logan was a bit apprehensive, he definitely was interested in Ragnar!
We are about 7 weeks away from Ragnar coming to MN. We’ve been so grateful for the overwhelming support from our family, friends and community! Everyone is so excited for Logan and super supportive of him having a full time, furry friend/helper. Fundraising has also gone really well and we are so humbled and grateful for those who’ve been able to contribute financially to bringing Ragnar home to MN! We are only $1,000 away from our goal and trusting God will provide the rest of the funds.
I’m a little nervous for the transition, particularly for the adjustments that will take place when Logan isn’t with us, like when he’s at school or therapy. But overall, we are mostly excited for Ragnar to come and start assisting Logan! Cecilia has been helping us prepare, which is very helpful! Logan and Ragnar will be best friends in no time!❤️ And we are thankful to have Cecilia available to us as an ongoing resource for the life of Ragnar!
Logan started kindergarten in the fall and it’s been one of the best things for him! I’m so grateful his preschool teachers encouraged us to send him, as we considered waiting until next year. They assured us he was ready and they were right! He has a great special ed teacher, a great kindergarten teacher, fantastic paras, PCA, bus driver and bus para, and other support staff/therapists. They all have contributed to how much Logan has progressed this school year. He’s saying more words, singing, joking around and being silly, eating more, interacting with his siblings more, etc. It’s truly hard to find the right words that adequately articulate how grateful we are for each and every person who invests in him and loves him on a daily basis. And it makes our hearts so full to see him constantly exceed our expectations. 😍
Oh and one last update: Logan absolutely loves his baby brother, Josiah, who was born in May. It’s so sweet!
I will try to do a better job of updating, especially when Ragnar comes! Until then, thank you for continuing to care about how Logan is doing!
