Liz’s Story

Site created on May 21, 2019

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
On May 14th, 2019, Liz underwent a scan in Waverly after having difficulty retrieving words and using motor skills. Results indicated a mass on her brain and she was transported to Iowa City. Surgery to remove a brain tumor was done on May 15th and a second surgery was needed to try and remove more of the tumor on May 16th. On May 17th, lab results indicated a diagnosis of Glioblastoma, an aggressive form of cancer.
Following the brain surgeries, Liz’s focus has been on recovering and getting back to her normal routine. On May 20th, she transitioned to Allen Hospital’s inpatient rehab program.
