Journal entry by Thomas Mueller

Hey friends and family, Thank you so much for the thoughts and prayers yesterday. It was a long day for all of us, and especially for Liv and Jessica.

Liv came out of surgery yesterday sometime in the late afternoon/early evening and we were able to see her at about 6:30 pm. It was so different to see  her come out of this surgery compared to the times when she was still being put back together in the weeks after the accident. I think I was expecting to see the earlier Liv, the one who was constantly exhausted, physically and emotionally beat up, and who had a look in her eye that constantly made me want to cry with her. This time, though, she looked strong, healthy, and more whole. As she came out of her anesthesia, it was pretty clear that she was ready to come home. So that's exactly what we did.

She woke up this morning feeling a little sore, but overall in pretty darn good shape. She's doing great and it makes me feel so happy.

The surgery was geared toward removing hardware in her elbow that was impeding bone growth, giving her a larger more range of motion in her forearm, and increasing her ability to grasp with her pinkie. The doctor's have indicated that everything went really well which is great to hear.

Again, I wanted to say a genuine thank you for all who have followed along, supported, prayed, and loved us through these times. I've learned through your outpouring of love throughout the past four months what it means to be carried by others. I hope over time to be able to say thank you in ways that truly honor all of the love that has been shown to us.
