Lissa ’s Story

Site created on August 20, 2022

If you’re reading this, you know our incredible Lissa. Whether you are a friend, family, or a casual acquaintance there’s a good chance she planned your baby shower/retirement party, helped you navigate a challenge, or gave you advice on a sensitive topic.

Lissa started experiencing symptoms of strong headaches, weight loss, exhaustion, etc. back in June/July. She toughed it out for several weeks and then sought medical attention. Doctor and urgent care appointments believed the cause to be a tension headache or a pinched tendon. Her symptoms worsened, and she was seen in the ER on August 18th. They completed a CT and MRI and transferred her for observation to Southdale Hospital. The next morning a neurosurgical team confirmed she had a mass located in her brain. Plans were made for surgery to take place the following day, August 20th. Her medical team prioritized identifying the type of the mass as the type, size, and placement will determine the next course of treatment.

Lissa is in great spirits, has a “let’s get this done” attitude, and knows we are all here for her. We appreciate you sending your love, following her story, and supporting each other through this unimaginable time.

She’s got this! We've got her!

Journal entry by Danielle Fox

Please join us in celebrating Lissa's life on Thursday, January 25th (details). A visitation will be followed by a gathering at one of her favorite family spots. While she knew there would be many tears this week, she was always one for a great party. She wanted us to focus on the happy memories, share a cocktail, and have some laughs.

In lieu of flowers, please consider helping us build Lissa's Legacy fund linked here

Thank you all, truly. The outpour of love has been incredible and is just a small showing of the impact she had on so many.

Take care of each other.
