Lissa’s Story

Site created on May 2, 2018

I have breast cancer. I first heard those words on April 17, 2018. Surely life won’t ever be quite the same again, but most definitely, as we’ve done before in the face of the unthinkable, we will make it better. Good will come. Thanks for being along for the ride!

Journal entry by Lissa Jordon

Today I celebrated NOT having to go to radiation by relaxing in the recliner in my bathrobe :-) I need about a week of healing to feel like the radiation chapter is officially closed, but it does feel great to do so without going to treatment everyday! Yesterday’s last session (to which I had a handsome escort, pictured) was uneventful, as they all are. Quick and painless. The effects are cumulative and delayed, so it’s the aftermath that takes patience and perseverance, both of which I still have in the well. Next week, I see my oncologist to start the next chapter: shots and medications to keep hormones at bay, since my cancer cells fed on hormones. Until then, it’s all about rest, relaxation, and healing!
