Lissa’s Story

Site created on May 24, 2019

Many of you know Lissa came to us in fall of 2015 with a big heart and a big tummy scar. The past five years have been quite the medical journey as we have navigated the ins and outs of recurrent sickeness and abdominal pain, presumably as a result of a medical condition and "under-identified" surgery as an infant in China.  With God's love, guidance, and healing, we continue to unravel the mystery and walk the road toward total recovery and healing.  Thanks for standing with us!

Journal entry by Sandy Huston

Hello everyone! First of all--I'm sorry that I haven't updated this in a couple of weeks. We got back home and it has been one big game of catch-up ever since; what can I say.

The first few days back were rough, but two Sundays Lissy made a turn for the better, and she hasn't looked back! We are SO grateful! She is pretty well back to normal, with a little coughing occasionally, a few pounds to regain, and strength/stamina to rebuild. We were able to make our family trip to Virginia over Memorial Day weekend (I was amazed; a few days earlier I though NO way) and we're now home trying to catch up (well, I am) and getting into enjoying summer. We will follow up with our surgeon here in a couple weeks and also with the GI team next month.

The long-term prognosis-- we do not know. My prayer is that this time God would spare her the return of scar tissue; would you pray that with me? And that there would be no issues with Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome-- if that has been part of it. I would like to see her able to go full-steam ahead with life. Come what may, I hope we will face it with thanksgiving, prayer and courage.

Thanks for joining us on the journey.
