Journal entry by Lisa Bridges Quirke

I saw the oncologist on Thursday. As you may remember, my original diagnosis was Estrogen+, Her2+ and Progesteron-. Apparently, after surgery, the tumor tested Her2-. Lucky me. An anomaly. Have I mentioned, it IS me, sooooo.....

This has Dr. Tolentino confused as to next steps with treatment. Typically, a Her2+ patient would do another 12-13 treatments of herceptin. Because of the anomaly, he is unsure how to proceed. He is contacting a colleague who is a breast cancer expert to figure that out. I will be still be doing the estrogen blocker for 5 years which I started  today. That hasn’t changed.

Hoping the expert decides herceptin isn't necessary. Keep your fingers crossed!!
