Lisa's progress over the last week has been positive!
She was able to get the drain removed from her head. They clamped the drain for 48 hours and everything went smoothly.
The same day, she was able to move out of the ICU! She is now on the neurotrauma floor. On this floor, she has a lot more freedom. She is no longer connected to any "cords". She can walk around (and is walking!). We went for a walk around the entire floor this evening. This is the longest she walked since being admitted into the hospital.
She has been accepted into the rehab program at Miller Dwan. This will start next week sometime. The start date is unknown, as they are waiting for a bed to open up. We have been told once a bed is available, we will find out fairly quickly and move forward. They believe that the earliest that this could happen is Monday.
Once in this rehab program at Miller Dwan, she will have a pretty regimented schedule. She will be working with Occupational therapist, Physical therapist, Speech therapist, and a psychological therapist. They say the average time a person spends in this rehabilitation center, based on their assessment of her that they did, is 14 days. Although, depending on how it goes, it could be longer.
Lisa continues to show her strength. She's advocating for herself and asking for what she needs.
