Lindsey’s Story

Site created on December 29, 2022

Welcome to our CaringBridge site. We've started this site to keep family and friends updated on Lindsey journey. We are so grateful for your love and support. We would love for you to send words of hope and encouragement during this time when it matters most.

Lindsey Rose: Daughter, sister, niece, wife and mom. She loves God, she is loving, beautiful, strong, resilient, caring and giving.

Lindsey was diagnosed with stage four liver disease during summer of 2022.  She had to wait for 6 months before she would even be considered for a transplant.

We are at that mark now.  She has been suffering from various symptoms caused by the disease.  Quite often she ends up being in the hospital for a week at a time.

December 19th, she met with her transplant team at Keck Hospital of USC. Rich, Teri (Lindseys mom) and Lindsey spent that day learning about this program.  A week later they met with the surgeon and of course more was answered.  There is so much to learn but the facility is wonderful everyone is there to support and help.

Currently Lindsey is home but has to go for testing to find out if she can have a live doner for the transplant.  This could be a long or short process.  The family’s lives are up in the air, as things can happen from one day to the next.

Lindsey now has good and bad days. Weekly she has to have fluids drained from her abdomen.  It’s a long process, very painful and takes up most of the day.  She still needs more test to be taken at USC we are all just taking baby steps for now.

Again, we would love to hear from you and will be sending out updates as they occur.

Thank you from Lindsey and her family.

Newest Update

Journal entry by LORNA WHIPPLE

A special thanks to Jaimee Hubert for the constant update on Lindsey

UPDATE ON Lindsey Dorkin 19 days after liver transplant surgery.

Lindsey got to go home finally on Tuesday, and see her kids for the first time in a month. Thank you to everybody who pitched in to make her homecoming a special one.

Unfortunately, she is an immense amount of pain since being home for 4 days. Rich Dorkin has been inundated with taking care of her and they haven’t slept in 4 days, so back to USC. It took him this many days to get me these videos bc it’s a around the clock job. Of course they cannot send her home with the level of pain control that they can do in the hospital, and they are afraid of her getting dependent on the pain killers. So hopefully they can help her.

Please text me if you’d like to send Lindsey a card, in lieu of a meal train we are asking for food gift cards to a grocery store, doordash/Uber eats, or a restaurant….as she cannot eat a lot yet and has a special diet. 714-507-5588 for address. Or you can Venmo Rich @rich-dorkin
