Newest Update

Journal entry by Lindsay Edmiston

Hi!

I want to give y'all a little update then we'll get to the fun stuff.

-Next Friday, May 10 I'll have a scan. I was pretty discouraged by the last one since it showed that things had kinda plateaued. BIG prayers for shrinkage. I'm talking shrinkage in the breast tumor, the liver, and sclerosis (aka healing) in the bones.

-I'll meet with my doctor the following Monday before treatment to discuss the results.

-Chemo is STILL making me sick for a good 9-10 days after the infusion. I don't mind the chemo itself, but I am starting to dread the week and a half that follows because I feel so yucky for so long. I've heard about women who don't have any side effects after being on Enhertu for a while; it's like their body gets used to it. And so that's my specific prayer: that I won't have any more side effects from the treatment (and that it'll continue to work). I keep hoping THIS will be the treatment cycle when I'm not sick 🤞

Alright, now to Hope Fest!

On June 1, 2023 I found out I had cancer after getting an MRI for back pain. One week later, June 8, we found out it was breast cancer. Six days later, June 13, we found out it was stage IV HER2+. What a whirlwind of a month June was for us.

It's hard to believe it's almost been a year.  In some way it feels like it's been forever and other ways it feels like no time has passed at all.

And I have mixed emotions about my cancer-versary. My initial reaction was to wear black and mourn the day (lol jk, but also not really). But that felt like I was buying into the prognosis and I'm not here for that. Instead I want to take control and power of the day. So, with that I'm going to be throwing my own little party to celebrate one whole year of kickin' cancer's ass.

If you're in the Houston area on Saturday, June 1, come out to Paradigm Brewery in Tomball from 11-1. It's a kid-friendly spot with good beer! And more importantly, we're going to be celebrating together as a community. I wouldn't have made it through this year without y'all!

See the attached flyer for all the deets 🥳

Thanks for reading. Thanks for praying. Thanks for being my people!

I'll write back in a couple weeks with good news (See what I did there? Speaking it into existence!!).
