Linda’s Story

Site created on July 20, 2018

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.   On July 19th  Linda suffered a proximal mid cerebral stroke.  She was transported to Cambridge hospital where she was given a clot dissolving medication.  Linda was intubated and flown to Omaha where doctors attempted unsuccessfully to remove the clot.  Linda is at this time waking up more and able to follow some commands.  The hope is that doctors can remove the breathing tube today so that we can better understand the effects of the stroke

Journal entry by Kasey Breinig

This is my final caring bridge entry and I have been writing it in my head for days.  I have no way to express how grateful my family is for the outpouring of love and support we have received over the last three months.  My mama was never lonely.  She had so many visitors and cards every day that she could have no doubt how loved and important that she was to so many people.  When we faced the end she was surrounded by love from her family and friends.  The last week was difficult but the care mom received from Hospice was amazing.  Her nurse Tracy was almost a part of the family, we will never be able to repay her kindness.  Dallas and Pastor Becky orchestrated a perfect service for mom, they celebrated her life and made me laugh and cry.  So many people sent flowers and gifts to the service and we will send thank you notes but you will never know how much what you gave really touched our hearts.  Then on Sunday the benefit was just amazing.  I saw people that I hadn't seen in years and everyone had a story about mom.  Those two hours were healing and a time to reflect on a life well lived.  I want thank everyone involved from the bottom of my heart.  My mom would have loved every minute of the stories and laughs.  I will end this with a final reminder of how loving and amazing mom was, she left Emily and I a letter of encouragement and love that we found after her passing.  I have read this letter about a thousand times it has brought me so much peace.  I want to ask each one of you to take the time to write or record something for the people that love you just in case.  I think that would be an amazing thing to do in remembrance of Linda.
all my love,
Kasey
