Journal entry by Angie McCracken —
Yesterday mom saw the neurologist, post MRI. The MRI shows that medications are working! The statins and xorelto are doing their job and all blockages in moms brain vessels are cleared. Mom can check off follow up for a whole year. She does have a cyst that the MD thinks is congenital (had since birth) near the pituitary gland. No changes are seen in that, which is good. We talked about what symptoms we would notice if there was something to worry about. Mom has been walking, and made it all the way around the block 2x this week! She has been walking with hikers poles and is building core strength as well as stamina. Next steps are cardiology flowing up, and orthopedic follow up. She needs to discuss rhythm control of her a fib with the cardiologist before she can have knee replacement surgery, since she will have to go off her xorelto for a little while so she can have surgery without too much bleeding. One day at a time.
