Journal entry by Linda Freedman

Great news! I was discharged from Providence Rehab Thursday! Such an amazing treat to get outside the walls of the hospital, smell fresh air and re-unite with my dog, Mateo! So many to thank for all their great care and encouragement:  all the docs, nurses, CNAs, therapists, discharge planner, patient navigator -- everyone who made it possible for me to take next steps. Which are out-patient physical and occupational therapy, with the goal of regaining the use of my right arm. I have appts for those and clinic appts almost every day for the next few weeks. Thankfully, the Ride Connection, a non-profit that provides free rides to seniors and other folks who can't drive, has stepped up and is providing rides for almost all of those. But I haven't been able to activate my Lots Helping Hands account (somehow I've messed up the login; still working to untangle that!) In the meantime, I'm needing transport to two appts this week: 1) Wednesday, 4/20, at 11 am to/from Oregon Clinic East's Neurology and Spine Clinic on NE Hoyt, and 2) Thursday, 4/21 at 1 pm at Element Wellness down on Macadam near the Water Tower. If anyone has the time and inclination, I can be reached at 503-957-1160. And I promise NOT to chat about the impact of automobile accidents on people who fall asleep at the wheel, or how real life in hospitals and rehab centers differs from what you see on TV series.
