Lina’s Story

Site created on October 28, 2020

Hi everyone,

(*Please note this is not a donation page for Lina*)

Lina suffered a ruptured AVM (brain arteriovenous malformation) on Friday October 23rd, 2020 early in the morning. She was rushed to a hospital nearby and once they diagnosed her with AVM and a significant brain bleed on the right side of her brain, they transferred her to Westchester Medical Center where they have a neurosurgeon who specializes in AVM surgeries. On the same day she underwent emergency brain surgery to alleviate the pressure on her brain which was successful.

She is currently (10/28) on a ventilator and sedated as we need her to continue resting to keep the swelling down on the brain. She has been somewhat responsive and able to move her limbs and has been able to open her eyes at times during the neuro-checks (move hand/fingers/toes/eyes, etc) the doctor's conduct every ~6 hours.

Next steps is to locate the AVM by using dye that will be injected into her bloodstream to determine what options she has to proceed with in order to remove the AVM tangle.

This is Dustin, Lina's boyfriend, and I will be updating this page as we get information from the doctors and nurses. At this time, there is no visiting for guests outside of myself and her mother due to COVID restrictions.

I bought a digital picture frame to have at her side when she wakes up ever so often between resting. If you would like to send pictures of you and her, or just even pics of her to be uploaded to the memory card, please email them to: weloveyoulina@gmail.com

We appreciate any and all well wishes for Lina. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

Hi all,

 Lina here!

I wanted to thank you all for you sending your positive vibes and energies, prayers, and support from all over the world. I feel so truly blessed. I spent my mornings reading your cards and messages. I really feel the love.

I couldn’t  be more grateful for my incredible support system of friends family and partner who have  been by my side through every step of the way. I have been in therapy working hard on making a full recovery. I even ran 1.5 miles in the last  two days,  I’m celebrating every day because I’m a survivor.

Since I’ve been home I’ve been showered with love, food and licks

I will be forever  grateful for all the love I have received  ! I will continue to make leaps in my recovery and remember to check your brains! AVM can be asymptotic your whole life.

Much Love,
Lina
