Lily’s Story

Site created on January 7, 2021

Lily is a 15 year old high school sophomore, at Incarnate Word Academy, in Houston, Texas. Her family includes her parents Mark and Jennifer Gribble, and her older brother Ty. She would also list her cats, Princess and Monkey, as family members. :) On January 6, 2021 Lily was diagnosed with Philadelphia-like B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. On July 30, 2021 she received a bone marrow transplant from her brother at Texas Children’s Hospital.

We are currently en route Dallas for an event that will honor our dear angel Lily. Curing Kids Cancer is bringing their Fire Truck Pull to Dallas with the help of the athletic teams at SMU. The Fire Truck Pull is the ultimate tug of war where teams will compete to see who can pull a 14,000 pound fire truck 50 feet the fastest! They also compete for best dressed and top fundraising. Each team pulls on behalf of a child who has been affected by childhood cancer.

Lily's team is the Swimming Queens for Lily and we specifically chose them because Lily was ALL about girl power! We know that the SMU women's swim team has some real competition against the SMU football players but we are so excited to go support Lily's team and cheer them on in person. We would be honored if you could make a donation to the Swimming Queens for Lily.  Know that the donations go to an organization that makes a real impact in the field of pediatric cancer.

The Curing Kids Cancer organization has been near and dear to our hearts from the very beginning of Lily's cancer journey after learning of them from her oncologist, Dr. Eric Schafer at Texas Children’s Hospital. The CKC team invited us to attend one of the Mecum car auctions (a major donor to CKC) a few months before Lily passed away and she loved getting a private back stage tour and making plans to volunteer with Curing Kids Cancer in the future.

We promise to post pics after the event on Saturday. Thanks again for all the ways you demonstrate your support and how you continue to honor our sweet Lily.
