Journal entry by Liesl Wright —
Hi Friends!
I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving holiday. Sorry for the long silence. The past two chemo infusions really wiped me out, physically and mentally. Simple everyday tasks seemed impossible, especially writing. However, my energy level has returned and my brain is starting to feel normal again. Happy to report, I completed all 6 chemo infusions and my first phase of chemotherapy is done! The hard part is over.
A couple of weeks ago, I had a PET scan and I am excited to share the results: No signs of cancer!
We are all so relieved and happy. Luckily James and I were sitting down when we got the news. Dr. S was so excited to tell us, he burst into the room with an entrance worthy of Kramer. Telling the kids and my parents was the best feeling in the world!
This Friday I will start the second phase of treatment and will require a 3-4 day hospital stay. The Methotrexate will be given intravenously and will prevent reoccurrence from happening. Side effects are not as bad: no hair loss (in any case, there is not much to lose at this point) and less fatigue. I plan to watch a lot of shows and movies and thanks to great suggestions from you, I am looking forward to my 3 day film fest.
