Lexi’s Story

Site created on December 14, 2023

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.

Lexi's Back Story:

Lexi was born with several congenital heart defects including dextracardia and a single ventricle.  Her heart has two chambers instead of the normal 4 chambers.  As a result she had her first open heart surgery at 6 months old and her second just before turning 4.  In the summer of 2020 they added a pacemaker to help her heart function.  In July of 2023, it was decided to move her from the pediatric care team at the University Of Minnesota to the adult team for further evaluation.  We had just started this process  when Lexi suffered a cardiac arrest Monday December 11.   By divine timing Lexi and her mom were walking into a clinic for a lab appointment when this occured, so their rapid response team was able to begin working on her within seconds.

Thank you for visting and following Lexi's journey.

Journal entry by Sarah Nauer

We arrived at the hospital early today to see how Lexi fared overnight.

The physicians have been working hard,  but Lexi's liver just hasn't responded favorably.  Anything further would just be prolonging the inevitable for us.

We called our family up to come see her,  and then we will be letting Lexi take the lead on us letting go.

Thank you all for your prayers and words of comfort these past five days.  We have read every comment,  message and text.

We know this is not the last we will have with her.

Joe,  Sarah and family

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”
