Lexi’s Story

Site created on February 1, 2023

Welcome to Lexi's CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.

Lexi was diagnosed with Burkitt/High Grade B-Cell Lymphoma in December of 2022. This cancer is rare and aggressive but treatable. Since December her doctors have been working hard to find a treatment plan and help Lexi kick cancer in the butt. Since the cancer she has is very aggressive the doctors have to fight back with aggressive measures as well. This means Lexi will be in the hospital for most, if not all, of her treatment. This website will be used as a way to update all her family and friends on how she is doing.  Thank you for visiting!

Journal entry by Lexi Hofmann

I have fantastic news. This morning my white count shot up, and I got to go home!!!! I'm super excited to be done with the hospital stays and super ready to be home but I'm also sad to leave behind all the nurses who have become like family.

My nurses gave me a bubble walk to the finish line and wrote me a very sweet card. I spent the day on and off crying as nurses came to talk to me, remember stories, and how I'm doing so much better than I was at the start. I am so thankful to each and everyone of the nurses that work oncology. I will miss you all, and plan to visit to say hi, show wedding plans, and all sorts of other things. Thank you.

I kinda wish I got more pictures of the hallway filled with most nurses on the unit, streamers, balloons, but I was disbelief that today is actually happening. As I'm sitting on my couch I'm still thinking this isn't real. But I guess with time this will become my new normal.
