Journal entry by Lexi Hofmann —
I have fantastic news. This morning my white count shot up, and I got to go home!!!! I'm super excited to be done with the hospital stays and super ready to be home but I'm also sad to leave behind all the nurses who have become like family.
My nurses gave me a bubble walk to the finish line and wrote me a very sweet card. I spent the day on and off crying as nurses came to talk to me, remember stories, and how I'm doing so much better than I was at the start. I am so thankful to each and everyone of the nurses that work oncology. I will miss you all, and plan to visit to say hi, show wedding plans, and all sorts of other things. Thank you.
I kinda wish I got more pictures of the hallway filled with most nurses on the unit, streamers, balloons, but I was disbelief that today is actually happening. As I'm sitting on my couch I'm still thinking this isn't real. But I guess with time this will become my new normal.
